UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has released data showing sugarcane processing was up during the first half of June. Ethanol production and sales were also up during the two-week period.Mills in the south-central region of Brazil processed 10.3 million tons of sugarcane during the first half of June, up 4.2 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Since the beginning of the current harvest season, which began April 1, mills in the region have processed 16.31 million metric tons of sugarcane, up 13.87 percent when compared to the same period of the previous harvest season.Ethanol production reached 1.86 billion liters (491.36 million gallons) during the first half of June, up 1.75 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Production included 1 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 6.88 percent, and 854.91 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 14.17 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 225.16 million, or 12 percent of production, up 27.54 percent when compared to the same period of last year.Total ethanol production since the start of the current harvest season reached 7.67 billion liters, up 9.3 percent, including 4.43 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 4.73 percent, and 3.23 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 36.93 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 1.13 billion liters of production, up 46.56 percent when compared to the same period of last year.Mills in the south-central region sold 1.2 billion liters of ethanol during the first half of June, up 4.1 percent when compared to the same period of last year. Sales included 667.54 million liters of hydrous ethanol, down 5.34 percent, and 534.55 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 18.92 percent. Domestic sales included 614.13 million liters of hydrous ethanol, down 11.18 percent, and 516.62 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 22.78 percent.Total sales since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 5.7 billion liters, down 0.39 percent. Sales included 3.19 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 11.09 percent, and 2.52 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 17.53 percent.&nbsp; &nbsp;
