In early October, Japan-based Toyo Engineering Corp. announced it has been awarded a contract to construct a 50 MW biomass power plant for Equis Bioenergy that will be fueled with wood pellets. The facility will be located in Takaoka-shi, Toyama Prefecture, Japan, approximately 150 miles northwest of Tokyo.

According to Toyo, it will carry out its contract on a full turnkey basis, including engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services.

The project marks Toyo’s second order this year for a 50 MW biomass plant.

In June, the company was awarded a contract to construct a similar 50 MW biomass plant for Obayashi Kamisu Biomass Power Generation Corp. in Kamisu-shi, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, approximately 55 miles northeast of Tokyo. The Obayashi facility will also be fueled by wood pellets.
