The U.S. EPA is offering a listen-only call-in number for its Aug. 1 hearing the proposed rule to set 2018 renewable volume obligations (RVOs) under the Renewable Fuel Standard, along with the 2019 RVO for biomass-based diesel.

Those interested in listening to the hearing are directed to call 1(866) 243-6502 or +1(224) 357-2823 and enter conference code: 8424004313# to listen.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. EDT and end once all parties present who wish to speak have had the opportunity to do so. Information released by Fuels America indicates the hearing will feature 24 panels, with nearly 150 speakers scheduled to offer testimony.

The EPA released a prepublication version of the proposed rule on July 5. The proposal calls for approximately 19.24 billion gallons of renewable fuels to be blended into the national fuel supply next year. This includes 238 million gallons of cellulosic biofuel, 2.1 billion gallons of biomass-based diesel and 4.24 billion gallons of advanced biofuel. For 2019, the new proposal calls for the biomass-based diesel RVO to be maintained at 2.1 billion gallons.

A public comment period on the proposed rule is open through Aug. 31.  Written comments can be submitted online at www.regulations.gov under Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2017-0091.
