In late September, China Everbright International Ltd. announced it commenced construction of 14 projects during the third quarter of this year, including six biomass projects, five waste-to-energy projects, a food waste treatment project, a waste water treatment project and a hazardous waste treatment project. Total investment in the projects exceeds RMB 778 million ($116.64 million).

According to the company, the biomass projects include the Rugao Biomass Direct Combustion Project, Guanyun Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-energy Project, Guanyun Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-energy Project, Fengyang Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-energy Project, Fengyang Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-energy Project, Mianzhu Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-energy Project. Everbright International said it currently has 16 biomass projects under construction, with some of those projects expected to begin operations later this year.

The waste-to-energy projects include the Henan Xinzheng Waste-to-energy Project, Henan Lankao Waste-to-energy Project, Shandong Zoucheng Waste-to-energy Project, Shandong Ju County Waste-to-energy Project, Hunan Yongzhou Waste-to-energy Project. Together, the five projects are expected to have a daily waste processing capacity of 3,300 metric tons and are expected to generate more than 360 million kWh of electricity annually.

Earlier in the month, Everbright International announced it had secured the Tianjin Ji County Biomass Project and Henan Xiayi Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Projects, with a total investment amounted to approximately RMB778 million.

According to the company, it signed an investment with the People’s Government of Ji Country in Tianjin in August to invest in and construct the Tianjin project. Everbright International said a total of RMB 320 million will be invested in the project, which will be constructed on a build-operate-own model. The facility is expected to take in approximately 280,000 metric tons of biomass, generating approximately 209.3 million kWh of electricity annually. It is expected to feature a 130t/h furnace and 30 MW turbine generator.

Everbright International also said it has entered into an investment agreement for a biomass power plant and a concession agreement on a household waste-to-energy project with the People’s Government of Xiayi County in Henan Province. The biomass project, with an investment of approximately RMB 228 million, is expected to process 150,000 metric tons of biomass per year, generating approximately 110 million kWh of electricity annually. The project is expected to be equipped with a 75 t/h furnace and a 15 MW turbine generator. The waste-to-energy portion of the project is expected to include an investment of RMB 230 million, process 400 metric tons of household waste per day, and generate 46 million kWh of electricity annually.
