D5 RINs for biogas, renewable diesel generated in February

By Erin Voegele | April 12, 2013

The U.S. EPA has published data on renewable identification numbers (RINs) generated under the renewable fuel standard (RFS) during February 2013. No D3 cellulosic biofuel or D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated during the month. However, more than 32.03 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated during the month, including a portion for biogas and renewable diesel fuels.

During the first two months of the 2013, a total of 727,071 D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated for biogas production. Approximately 361,535 of those D5 biogas RINs were generated in January, with the balance of approximately 365,536 generated in February.

Nearly 1.673 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated during the first two months of 2013 for non-ester renewable diesel, with nearly 82.388 million D5 RINs generated for ethanol production during the same time period.

Additional data on monthly RIN production is available on the EPA website
