Canadian companies Sanimax and StormFisher Biogas have announced a joint venture to construct eight biogas plants in the U.S. Midwest, including an investment of more than $160 million. Each of the facilities will generate 2.6 megawatts of electricity, enough to power approximately 2,600 homes annually. A construction schedule wasn't available at press time. The plants will process food byproducts from local facilities, such as schools and restaurants, to generate the electricity, as well as natural gas.
