The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for July, reporting more than 1.61 billion RINs were generated during the month, including nearly 15.21 million cellulosic RINs. So far this year, a net total of 10.82 billion RINs have been generated.

Nearly 15.21 million D3 cellulosic RINs were generated in July, bringing the net total for the first seven months of the year to 92.22 million. Approximately 2.21 million D3 RINs have been generated for ethanol, with 53.46 million generated for renewable compressed natural gas and 38.4 million generated for renewable liquefied natural gas. More than 83.58 million D3 RINs have been generated domestically, with 10.21 million generated by importers.

No D7 cellulosic diesel RINs were generated in July. The net total for the first seven months of the year is 114,835, all of which were generated in March for cellulosic heating oil by importers.

More than 15.89 million D5 advanced biofuel RINs were generated in July, bringing the net total for the first seven months of the year to 57.02 million. Approximately 39.08 million D5 RINs were generated for ethanol, with 12.61 million generated for naptha, 863,751 for heating oil and 4.49 million for nonester renewable diesel. Nearly 33.66 million D5 RINs have been generated domestically, with 23.39 million generated by importers.

Nearly 1.27 billion D6 renewable fuel RINs were generated in July, bringing the net total for the first seven months of the year to 8.72 billion. The majority, 8.49 billion, were generated for ethanol, with 77.13 million generated for biodiesel, 161.34 million generated for nonester renewable diesel and 90,340 generated for butanol. Nearly 8.49 billion D6 RINs have been generated domestically, with 83.22 million generated by importers and 161.34 million generated by foreign entities.

More than 313.7 million D4 biomass-based diesel RINs were generated in July, bringing the net total for the first seven months of the year to 1.95 billion. Most, 1.57 billion, were generated for biodiesel, with 386.13 million generated for nonester renewable diesel and 912,145 generated for renewable jet fuel. Nearly 1.49 billion D4 RINs have been generated domestically, with 284.34 million generated by importers and 182.76 million generated by foreign entities.

As of the end of July, the EPA estimates 10.84 billion RINs have been generated so far this year, with 469.64 million retired, 608.72 million locked and available and 9.76 billion unlocked and available.
