The U.S. Department of Energy updated its notice for the recently announced meeting of the Biomass Research and Development Technical Advisory Committee. The meeting will now take place as a webinar on March 5. The DOE had previously announced the event would be held in Washington, D.C., on March 5-6.

According to a notice published in the Federal Register, the meeting venue was changed due to the availability of committee members. The webinar is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. EDT and conclude at 5:30 p.m. EDT. Those who would like to participate in the event can register online using a link included in the Federal Register notice.

The committee was established by the Biomass R&D Act of 2000 and reauthorized in the 2014 Farm Bill. It provides advice and recommendations to the secretary of energy and the secretary of agriculture that promote research and development leading to the production of biobased fuels and products.

The DOE previously announced the agenda is scheduled to include an update on USDA and DOE biomass research and development activities. It will also include an update on the Biomass Research and Development Initiative and an update on the DOE Bioenergy Technologies Office upcoming funding opportunities announcements. In addition, the meeting is scheduled to address the committee plan for 2015.
