Herty offers new mobile pellet equipment

By Staff | March 14, 2014

The Herty Advanced Materials Development Center has added a new mobile pellet development unit (MPDU) to its facility. As a research tool, the versatile pellet system is designed for rapid screening of a variety feedstocks and range of optimum processing conditions. The mill can be deployed at Herty, or at a client’s site as a skid mounted unit.

The MPDU offers an option of six compression ratio dies and has the capacity to produce 200 pounds of pellets per hour. While the unit minimizes the need for large quantities of feedstock for scoping studies, it provides realistic operational parameters that are relevant at the commercial scale.

Herty obtained the MPDU through a donation from La Meccanica s.r.l., an Italian-based company that specializes in the design and manufacture of pelletizing equipment.
