Temecula, Calif.-based Promethean Biofuels Cooperative Corp. announced that it will celebrate its grand opening on Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. City, regional, state and industry officials will be on-site as the company presents its model facility. The general public is also invited to attend the inaugural batch production of its first road-grade, American Standard Tests and Measurements specification biodiesel.
Attendees will:
See how the company converts cooking oil to biofuel, which can be blended with diesel or used in its pure form for a nearly 100 percent emission-free environmental experience;
Find that the plant makes the local production of 1.5 million gallons of renewable diesel fuel possible and serves as a model for others to build biofuels plants of similar scale;
Learn about Promethean's cooperative, community-oriented business model;
Observe that the majority of the plant has been constructed using repurposed or reused material; the company estimates that nearly 90 percent of the plant has been recycled while maintaining the highest standards of modern construction;
Note that Promethean is strategically located adjacent to a community recycling facility, which helped during construction but also allows recyclers the most convenient place to recycle metals, cardboard, waste vegetable and motor oils year-round.
“Make it a better place,” has been a life theme of Todd Hill, Promethean Biofuels founder and managing principal. “With our cooperative biofuels model, we are ideally suited to collaborate with citizens, businesses, and officials of city, county, and the state in an effort to lead the way to a clean, community-based,
innovative, renewable, sustainable energy production and consumption way of life,” Hill said.
